First Class Learning promotes independent learning and study skills, so that your child gains the confidence to tackle new concepts

Our centre

Welcome to the Leeds Roundhay First Class Learning Centre, where children learn to succeed. We are delighted to support children in the local community, of all ages and abilities, with both maths and English tuition.

Students attend our study centre at Oakwood Church (formerly Roundhay Methodist Church) on Springwood Road. We cater for learners from Early Years and primary through to GCSE, offering a varied approach including independent learning and small group/one to one tuition by qualified, experienced tutors. Students also benefit from GCSE, SATS and 11+ preparation and Year 6-7 transition.

Our expert tutors support your child's learning in maths, English, or both subjects together, in order to help with their school performance, build confidence/self-esteem and develop independent learning skills.

Our English and maths programmes are flexible and tailored to learners' individual needs so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. All programmes follow the National Curriculum.

Subjects

From the basics of reading, writing and spelling to comprehension and creative writing skills, the First Class Learning English Programme follows principles that make it ideal for all learners, whether primary or secondary. Drawing on a variety of imaginative materials, the programme develops the key skills that allow the learner to read and write fluently, confidently and with enjoyment.

The First Class Learning Maths programme is designed to equip your child with the fundamental skills required for success in school Mathematics. Using a range of resources, it covers all the essential areas of the school curriculum.

How it works

One of our First Class Learning tutors will meet with you to discuss your child. They will then sit down with your child and complete an assessment to determine which path is most suitable for them. Once we have established your child’s needs, we will put together a bespoke course of action that will support and encourage your child’s learning.

If you feel happy with our plan and that we are the best option for you and your child, they will then be able to start attending regular classes at the centre. In these classes they will complete a short piece of work which will be marked, returned and discussed with the tutor, who will give them a detailed programme of homework to be completed before the next class.

Your next steps
