Derby First Class Learning Centre for maths and English Tuition
Welcome to the Derby First Class Learning centre. Before starting this centre, the centre manager, Polly Cave, has been running maths and English classes in nearby Allestree for over seven years. Many of her students have achieved excellent results at their major exams or promoted to higher sets in their school year.

The centre currently supports students aged 4 to 16 in the local community with both maths and English tuition. Students of all abilities thrive in the First Class Learning centre as the programmes are individualised to their specific need, and cover the school curriculum. Learning key skills in maths and English are crucial in helping students become successful in their school life, and beyond.
Initial Assessment
Prior to enrolling, students will be assessed by Polly. These assessments help determine the suitable starting points on the programmes for the students.
In the class
At each weekly visit to the centre, students typically spend 20-30 minutes in class, or a little longer if they are doing two subjects. Students will be given work to do in the class, as well as homework that should be completed before the next class.
Homework
The homework is a weekly task, where students may choose to do a small amount each day, or in two or three sessions over the course of the week. It plays a vital role in the students' progress by ensuring constant consolidation of the skills learned at the centre as well as at school. Answer books are supplied to the students for marking purposes.
