First Class Learning Centre for maths and English Tuition in Hendon

  • You want your children to do well at school.
  • You want your children to develop good English and maths skills.
  • You want your children to have the skills they need throughout life.

Welcome to my after school club which uses materials from the First Class Learning Programme along with various other supplementary material to cover a broader aspect of the National Curriculum to ensure that they get those skills when they enrol for tuition at the Hendon First Class Learning Centre.

The FCL Schools programme is supported by schools and now running successfully for the entire school in Hendon under my supervision.

Who we are:

First Class Learning (FCL) is a leading after-school maths and English programme aimed at the National Curriculum. It has been developed by a British team of educationalists specifically to support the National Curriculum in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (and the Scottish equivalent) and is endorsed by the Dyspraxia Foundation.

Leading up to starting at FCL, I successfully ran a popular maths and English after-school centre of over 240 students for over 8 years from this venue.

Through my years of experience as a Centre Manager and using the First Class Learning programme, I nurture my students by

  •  building confidence,
  •  concentration and
  •  a desire to learn and hence develop their independent learning ability.

Students of all ages attend the centre from Early Years all the way through to children studying GCSEs.

Children of all abilities thrive at my centre and the First Class Learning programmes are individualised to each student’s specific needs. Each student progresses a step at a time, moving on only after they have understood and are confident in each topic making it a truly individual programme.

Our students progress a step at a time, moving on only after they have understood and mastered a topic. At First Class Learning we believe in 1% steps to 100% success.

The programme is a long term programme and runs throughout the year. Students generally stay with me for a number of years.  At my centre, we support your child's learning with the aim of raising self esteem and confidence, thus making their school studies easier. Maths and English can be studied as individual subjects or studied together.

How does it work?

Using a combination of carefully structured worksheets and textbooks, the First Class Learning programme will take your child from the basics of Maths and/or English through to the more demanding aspects of school work. The programme, being modular, allows us to vary the type of work, and to cover the National Curriculum.

Before you decide to enrol your child with First Class Learning at my centre, your child will be assessed by me personally. The assessment will help to determine your child's specific needs.

What happens in class?

The classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays as a drop in session and the students are expected to be in class for 20-30 minutes per subject. Students are provided with a task to complete which is then marked and any errors corrected. Students receive guidance whenever necessary, and independent learning is encouraged.

Home Study

At each visit to the Centre, your child will be given a detailed programme of homework which reinforces and consolidates their class work. The work should be completed on a daily basis, and parental involvement is an essential requirement to mark the work with the help of Handbooks that are provided. This ensures that you will always be fully aware of the work your child is doing and the progress being made. This homework then needs to be returned at each class session for review and feedback.
