Welcome to the SUDBURY First Class Learning Centre
Whether your child is experiencing problems with their schoolwork, or finding school insufficiently challenging, joining the First Class Learning programme can help your son or daughter achieve his or her true potential. You can ensure that they get those skills when they enrol for Maths and English tuition at the Sudbury First Class Learning Centres.
Who we are:
Leading up to starting FCL, for the past 15years I ran a popular after-school Maths & English study centre for children in Pitshanger Lane, Ealing.
My aim is to build confidence, concentration, accuracy and speed in children and develop their independent learning ability. Students of all ages attend the centre from Early Years all the way through to children studying GCSEs. Children of all abilities thrive in the First Class Learning centre as our programmes are individualised to their specific needs. Each student progresses a step at a time, moving on only after they have understood and mastered a topic making it a truly individual programme.
First Class Learning is a long term programme and runs throughout the year. Students generally stay with us for a number of years. At First Class Learning, we support your child's learning with the aim of raising self esteem and confidence, thus making their school studies easier. Maths and English can be studied as individual subjects or studied together.
How does it work:
Using a combination of carefully structured worksheets and textbooks. I will devise a programme specifically for your child, to take him or her from the basics of Maths and/or English through to the more demanding aspects of school work. FCL was developed by a British team of educationalists specifically to support the National Curriculum in England.
Before you decide to enrol your child with First Class Learning, he/she will be assessed by me. The assessment will help to determine his/her specific needs and ensure a suitable starting point in the course.
Once your child enrols, at each visit to the Study Centre he/she will be given a programme of homework that should be completed before the next class. Even in one subject, there may be homework on two different topics.
All students should look upon the homework they receive as a weekly task – not a daily grind! There is flexibility – a child may choose to do a small amount each day, or in two or three sessions over the course of the week.
Study Centres:
The Sudbury FCL Centre is located at the St John's Community Centre, 3 Crawford Avenue, Wembley, HA0 2HX. Class is held in the Copland Room on Mondays between 4 to 6pm.
Our other study centres are based in Ealing as follows:
Ealing Central FCL Centre is located at the Ealing Central Library which is in the heart of Ealing Broadway Shopping centre. We are on the first floor opposite Argos. Class is held in the Green Room, located next to the library cafe, on Saturday mornings 10am to 12pm.
Ealing West FCL Centre is located at the St Barnabas Church, Pitshanger Lane, Ealing W5 1QG. Class is held in the small hall on Tuesdays between 3.45 to 5.45pm.
Help with school work:
Don’t forget that we are always happy to help children with their schoolwork. All we ask is that you give us some notice and bring the relevant work (including textbooks) to the class. The best times to attend in these circumstances are during the first or last half hour of the class.

Ethos:
We aim to create a calm and welcoming atmosphere in class. We talk to every child while they are in the classroom, and they are soon made aware that they can quickly turn to our trained assistants for friendly advice and help.
Friendships are formed here. We take our studies seriously but we enjoy ourselves at the same time. Children arrive and leave with a smile.
