Business Opportunities - Why A Franchise?

In essence a franchise is where a company or individual (the ‘franchisor’) has developed a successful business model and operating system, and then grants the rights to third parties (’franchisees’) to operate that model within their agreed territory, and with the franchisor’s ongoing help and support.

The key factor is that the business has been run successfully by the franchisor in exactly the same way that it’s offered as a franchise. In other words the business format or model is proven. The franchisor has been through the steep learning curve, made all the mistakes and encountered (and solved) the problems, and transfers all this skill and know-how to the franchisees via training and ongoing support.

Franchisees then receive help and back-up in all areas of the business where it’s necessary, thus greatly increasing the chances of success. In return they pay various up-front and ongoing fees. Anyone thinking about taking a franchise must be willing to invest their own time and money in the business.

Franchising is a sort of partnership and all about co-operation, mutual dependency and mutual benefit between franchisor and franchisee.
