Our centre

Welcome to the Salthill First Class Learning Centre, one of two centres that we now operate in Galway. The other is in Oranmore. We support children and adults in the local community with maths and English tuition.

Students of all ages attend our study centre, which is located at Galway Bridge Centre on St Mary's Road in Salthill. We cater for learners from preschoolers through to Junior Certificate students. Our programs have been created by experienced specialists in English and maths and align with the Irish curriculum. Courses are flexible and geared to the needs of the individual child.

Our expert tutors support your child's learning in maths and/or English in order to build confidence and develop independent learning skills. International research confirms that children who are taught maths early and learn the basics at a young age are set up for a lifetime of achievement in all aspects of their academic performance.

Our English and maths programmes are tailored to learners' individual needs so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. At FCL we believe in 1% steps to 100% success. Consolidation of the core skills in maths and English is fundamental for future progress in second and third level - indeed it is also linked to increased future earnings.

How it works

One of our First Class Learning tutors will meet with you to discuss how we can help your child with maths or English. They will then sit down with your child and complete an assessment to determine which path is most suitable for them. Once we have established your child’s needs, we will put together a bespoke course of action that will support and encourage your child’s learning.

If you feel happy with our plan and that we are the best option for you and your child, they will then be able to start attending regular classes at the centre. In these classes they will complete a short piece of work which will be marked, returned and discussed with the tutor, who will give them a detailed programme of homework to be completed before the next class.
