Maths and English Tuition at Newton Abbot

Welcome to the Newton Abbot First Class Learning Centre. We support children and adults in the local community with both maths and English tuition.

How we work

We start with a diagnostic assessment of your child's current level. This is then used to inform their personally tailored study programme. Once they have enrolled with us they will follow their programme at a pace that's right for them. Programmes consist of weekly tuition sessions together with daily homework tasks. At First Class Learning we believe that A LITTLE PROGRESS EACH DAY ADDS UP TO BIG RESULTS

Marion Phillips (B.Ed)

Centre Manager

As a qualified teacher with 15 years experience Marion specialises in 'Precision Teaching' - supporting children to accelerate their progress in the core skills for maths and English success. As well as teaching part-time in a school she develops and publishes learning resources and provides consultancy support to schools in her region. You can feel confident that Marion is up to date with the current requirements of the National Curriculum taught in schools and with the criteria for National Testing.

Maths

The First Class Learning maths programme is designed to equip your child with the fundamental skills required for success in school mathematics. Using a range of resources, it covers all the essential areas of the school curriculum.

English

Our English programme concentrates on reading, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, creative writing and handwriting. The initial diagnostic testing assesses the child's needs so that we can provide an individualised programme.

Science

Our comprehensive science programme will develop your child's knowledge and the skills required as part of their school curriculum. The programme has a proven record for improving results and encourages enjoyment in learning.
