COVID-19 News - In line with recent measures this centre is temporarily closed for face-to-face visits. However, we continue to offer support remotely with video or phone calls and the daily worksheets are delivered to you. Students can still make the same progress as if they were coming to the class. Students of all ages are provided with a structured and individualised daily plan of study of around 10-15 minutes per day. Weekly contact by video call is available for up to an hour per week and 1:1 support is given whenever it is needed by video or phone call.
Through our structured programmes, Lisa individualises each child’s learning path, which is targeted to fill any existing gaps in their understanding and promote development of existing knowledge. This therefore helps with their school work, builds confidence and develops independent learning skills, something that is extremely important in today's busy classrooms in schools.
Our maths and English programmes are flexible and tailored to learners' individual needs and abilities, so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. Regular testing ensures that the best possible progress is made. The 'little and often' approach, with plenty of repetition and practise, really does make a huge difference.
The first step is to arrange a convenient time for your child to complete some initial assessments. These are done via a video call. The Centre Manager, Lisa, will discuss how she can help your child with their maths or English. An individualised programme is put together that will support and encourage your child's learning, enabling them to gain confidence and fill in any gaps that they may have. If you feel happy with our plan and that we are the best option for you and your child, they will then be able to start attending regular classes at the centre or online. Your child can then start completing the daily worksheets with ongoing support from the Centre Manager and staff. Our programme is a partnership between First Class Learning, your child and you as parents, so communication between all is important. We encourage all parents to mark the homework daily (answer books are provided) so that corrections can be made as children go through the week and their progress will be seen in the results. If there are any problems with the work, you can call Lisa at any time between 09:00 and 18:00, Monday to Friday.
