Maths and English Tuition at Oxford West

Welcome to First Class Learning Oxford West, where children learn to succeed. We are delighted to support children in the local community, of all ages and abilities, with both maths and English tuition.

Through our structured programmes, we personalise each child’s learning path, which is targeted to fill any existing gaps in their understanding and promote development of existing knowledge. This helps with their schoolwork, builds confidence and develops independent learning skills.

Our maths and English programmes are flexible and tailored to learners' individual needs and abilities, so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. Regular testing ensures that the best possible progress is made. The 'little and often' approach, with plenty of repetition and practice, really does make a huge difference.

How we work

Our First Class Learning Centre Managers will call you to discuss how we can help your child with maths and English. They will then assist your child to complete an assessment to determine which path is most suitable for them. Once we have established your child's needs, we will put together a bespoke course of action that will support and encourage your child's learning. If you feel happy with our plan and that we are the best option for you and your child, they will then be able to start attending regular classes at the centre. In these classes they will complete a short piece of work which will be marked, returned and discussed with the Centre Managers, who will give them a detailed programme of homework to be completed before the next class.

FAQ

How does FCL differ to 1:1 tutoring?
FCL offers structure and daily practice with a ‘little and often’ approach, enabling your child to retain what they have learned and gain confidence. It also develops a good study habit and independent learning rather than becoming dependent upon others teaching them.
How will FCL help with my child’s school work?
By bridging gaps and developing confidence, your child’s attitude can become more positive, whilst at the same time our programmes provide them with the skills sets required to transfer through to their school studies.
Is there a registration fee?
There is a registration fee of £30. However, it may be waived in certain circumstances.
If I join, am I tied into FCL for a set amount of time?
No, not at all. FCL is primarily a long-term programme, not a ‘quick fix’. However, there are many reasons why you may need to discontinue, so we kindly ask for just 1 month’s notice.
