COVID-19 News - In line with recent measures this centre is temporarily closed for face-to-face visits. However, our centres are still supporting remote learning. Our individualised worksheet programmes can be sent to your home and your child assisted remotely as they progress, via our secure video platform.
Welcome to the Wakefield North First Class Learning Centre.
We are delighted to announce that our centres are now OPEN again (since July 24th) and are operating close to normal. We are adopting special rules to allow social distancing of students, our staff wear face visors (but not face masks so we can talk to students to help them with their work). Following Govt guidelines, all students who attend a secondary school should wear a face mask on entering the centre. Parents will have to remain in their cars in the car park until their child(ren) have finished their class. Please note that if, for medical reasons, you do not want your child(ren) to attend class then you should come to class as usual to collect their work. We will not be hand delivering students work as we did during March-August.
We support children and adults in the local community with maths, English and science tuition tailored to their individual needs. Students move on only when they are confident with a topic.
When not constrained by social distancing requirements, students of all ages attend our study centre at St Anne's Church Hall in Wrenthorpe Road. We cater for learners from Early Years and primary through to GCSE and adult students.
Our expert Centre Managers support your child's learning in maths, English or science in order to help with their school studies, build confidence and concentration, and develop independent learning skills.
Our First Class Learning Centre Manager will discuss with you how we can help your child with maths, English or science. They will then sit down with your child (currently remotely) and complete an assessment to determine which path is most suitable for them. Once we have established your child's needs, we will put together a bespoke programme of worksheets that will support and encourage your child's learning. We will discuss with you our reasons for creating that individualised programme. If you are happy with our plan and that we are the best option for you and your child, they will then be able to start on their personalised programme. Every day they will complete a short piece of work which parents can mark using the handbooks provided. Any corrections should be completed immediately as this helps learning. If there are any difficulties with marking or correcting, help is available by phone, Zoom, Skype etc. As our programme is designed for students to work on independently, usually few difficulties are encountered.
