Maths and English Tuition at Hampstead Frognal Lane

Welcome to the Hampstead Frognal Lane First Class Learning Centre. We support children in the local community with maths, English and science tuition.

Through our structured programmes, we personalise each child’s learning path, which is targeted to fill any existing gaps in their understanding and promote development of existing knowledge. This helps with their schoolwork, builds confidence, and develops independent learning skills.

Our programmes are flexible and tailored to learners' individual needs and abilities, so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. Regular testing ensures that the best possible progress is made. The 'little and often' approach, with plenty of repetition and practice, really does make a huge difference.

How we work

Your child’s journey starts with a friendly home assessment by our centre manager, Anelle. Using fun, engaging materials, we identify strengths, highlight areas to improve, and create a personalised learning plan tailored to your child. Once enrolled, your child attends the centre once a week for hands-on support with new concepts. Short, daily homework reinforces learning, while our ‘little and often’ approach builds confidence, independence, and lasting skills. Where possible, students mark their own homework, developing self-assessment skills and correcting mistakes immediately. With regular testing, Anelle monitors progress closely and keeps you updated every step of the way.

Dina Parmar

Centre Manager

Dina is a dedicated and accomplished educator with an honours degree, qualified teacher status and over 24 years of teaching and leadership experience across both state and independent school settings. With a strong academic background and a wealth of professional expertise, she is an experienced and respected educator who has successfully supported students in both classroom and one-to-one settings. She has taught a broad range of subjects and played a key role in guiding students through their academic journeys. Dina has built a reputation for delivering outstanding support to students of all abilities. Her career includes subject leadership in English, Mathematics and Science, along with managing educational teams. As a 11+ tutor with subject expertise and an ability to build confidence in learners, Dina provides expert preparation in English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. In her role as Centre Manager, she leads with care and purpose, creating an environment where pupils feel motivated and supported. Her leadership promotes academic achievement alongside essential life skills such as independence and resilience. Dina is fully DBS-checked and committed to providing high-quality, personalised education that empowers every student to thrive.

Maths

The First Class Learning maths programme is designed to equip your child with the fundamental skills required for success in school mathematics. Using a range of resources, it covers all the essential areas of the school curriculum.

English

Our English programme concentrates on reading, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, creative writing and handwriting. The initial diagnostic testing assesses the child's needs so that we can provide an individualised programme.

Science

Our comprehensive science programme will develop your child's knowledge and the skills required as part of their school curriculum. The programme has a proven record for improving results and encourages enjoyment in learning.

FAQ

How does FCL differ to 1:1 tutoring?
FCL offers structure and daily practice, with a ‘little and often’ approach, enabling the child to retain what they have learnt and gain confidence with ease. It also develops good study habits and independent learning so that they don’t become dependent on others teaching them.
How will FCL help with my child’s school work?
By filling in any gaps they may have and developing their confidence we can change their attitude to a positive one and at the same time give them the skill sets needed to carry through to all school work.
Can I sit with my child while they do their work at the centre?
If your child is worried about coming into their first session, parents can come in to begin with but you won’t need to stay for long. Once they see the friendly faces and welcoming atmosphere, they are happy to stay on their own. We like to encourage independent and confident students.
If I join, am I tied into FCL for a set amount of time?
No, not at all. FCL is primarily a long term programme, not a 'quick fix'. However, there are many reasons why you may need to stop, so I just ask for a month's notice.
