Maths and English Tuition at Windsor

Welcome to First Class Learning, Windsor!

Our centre is for children of all ages, whether you are looking to stretch and challenge a child just starting primary school, or seeking support with SATs or GCSE Maths and English. The FCL programme is mapped onto the National Curriculum with incremental small-step stages to develop confidence. The programme includes plenty of repetition (at least 15 minutes of daily practice) within a spiralised curriculum to ensure continual long and short-term recall of previously taught subjects.

Every child who wishes to join us begins with a free diagnostic assessment on a 1:1 basis with the Centre Manager. Following this, you will be given detailed feedback as to their strengths and areas for development, and a bespoke programme is created according to their individual learning needs.

How we work

Our First Class Learning Centre Manager will call you to discuss how we can help your child with maths, English, and science. They will then assist your child to complete an assessment to determine which path is most suitable for them. Once we have established your child's needs, we will put together a bespoke course of action that will support and encourage your child's learning.

FAQ

How does FCL differ to 1:1 tutoring?
FCL offers structure and daily practice, with a ‘little and often’ approach, enabling the child to retain what they have learnt and gain confidence with ease. It also develops good study habits and independent learning so that they don’t become dependent on others teaching them.
How will FCL help with my child’s school work?
By filling in any gaps they may have and developing their confidence we can change their attitude to a positive one and at the same time give them the skill sets needed to carry through to all school work.
Can I sit with my child while they do their work at the centre?
If your child is worried about coming into their first session, parents can come in to begin with but you won’t need to stay for long. Once they see the friendly faces and welcoming atmosphere, they are happy to stay on their own. We like to encourage independent and confident students.
If I join, am I tied into FCL for a set amount of time?
No, not at all. FCL is primarily a long term programme, not a 'quick fix'. However, there are many reasons why you may need to stop, so I just ask for a month's notice.
