Maths and English Tuition at Brentford

Welcome to the Brentford First Class Learning Centre, where children learn to succeed!

We are delighted to offer children in the local community, our powerful learning programmes, which are designed to meet the objectives of the National Curriculum.

We cater for learners of all abilities, aged 4 to 16 years old. Through our structured Maths and English tuition programmes, we create and personalise your child’s learning path according to their individual learning needs. Our learning programmes are targeted to fill any existing gaps in understanding, promote the consolidation of current learning, and encourage the development of new knowledge - enabling your child to reach academic excellence. This helps with their schoolwork, builds confidence, and develops independent learning skills for life.

Every child who wants to join us completes a free Maths and English assessment with the Centre Manager – who is a qualified and experienced teacher from an Outstanding School. Detailed feedback will be provided and this is what will be used to map put your child’s personalised learning journey. Our individualised programmes are flexible so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. Regular testing ensures that the best possible progress is made. The 'little and often' approach, with plenty of repetition and practice, really does make a huge difference!

How we work

Our First Class Learning Centre Manager - Hafsa Bhatti will call you to discuss how we can help your child with Maths and English. Your child will then complete a free assessment to determine which path is most suitable for them. You will be provided with informative feedback on their strengths and areas to improve, with a recommendation of the personalised learning programme to meet your child's needs. Once we have established your child's needs, we will put together a bespoke programme that will support and encourage your child's learning. If you feel happy with our plan and choose to enrol your child, they will attend the tuition centre once a week. At the centre, your child will be supported as they work through their personalised learning programme comprising of a short piece of work, which will be marked, returned, and discussed with the teacher. Between their weekly centre visit, they will also receive a programme of daily bite-size homework tasks to be completed before the next class, this will further embed and consolidate the learning from the centre session.

Hafsa Bhatti, BA (Hons), QTS, MA

Centre Manager

The Brentford First Class Learning Centre is run by a qualified, experienced and highly successful teacher Hafsa Bhatti, who is fully trained to deliver the First Class Learning study programmes. She holds an Enhanced DBS certificate and is trained in child safeguarding and first aid. Hafsa (BA Hons, QTS, MA) works as a qualified teacher as well as a private tutor. She has held numerous managerial roles in schools and tuition centres, and is currently part of a leadership team. She also works on various international teacher training programmes; leading teacher training on a global scale. Hafsa has been an Examiner and Invigilator for a range of educational institutions in the West London area.

Maths

The First Class Learning maths programme is designed to equip your child with the fundamental skills required for success in school mathematics. Using a range of resources, it covers all the essential areas of the school curriculum.

English

Our English programme concentrates on reading, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, creative writing and handwriting. The initial diagnostic testing assesses the child's needs so that we can provide an individualised programme.

FAQ

How does FCL differ to 1:1 tutoring?

FCL offers structure and daily practice, with a ‘little and often’ approach, enabling the child to retain what they have learnt and gain confidence with ease. It also develops good study habits and independent learning so that they don’t become dependent on others teaching them.

How will FCL help with my child’s school work?

By filling in any gaps they may have and developing their confidence we can change their attitude to a positive one and at the same time give them the skill sets needed to carry through to all school work.

Can I sit with my child while they do their work at the centre?

If your child is worried about coming into their first session, parents can come in to begin with but you won’t need to stay for long. Once they see the friendly faces and welcoming atmosphere, they are happy to stay on their own. We like to encourage independent and confident students.

If I join, am I tied into FCL for a set amount of time?

No, not at all. FCL is primarily a long term programme, not a 'quick fix'. However, there are many reasons why you may need to stop, so I just ask for a month's notice.
