How we work

The first step is to book a free assessment to determine whether the First Class Learning programme is right for your child. There is absolutely no commitment required at this stage. It is also a chance for you to meet us and to ask any questions you may have. Upon enrolling, we carefully construct an individually-tailored programme for your child which is linked to their ability and the pace at which they learn. We always welcome your feedback to ensure that we pitch the work correctly for your child. Numeracy and literacy skills are developed very gradually and consistently by completing short pieces of homework and by weekly attendance at our warm and friendly Penarth study centre. In class, your child receives individual attention as new work is introduced. They then spend some time working independently. As a result, students only move on in small, achievable steps when they are confident with a topic.

FAQ

How does FCL differ from 1:1 tutoring?
FCL offers structure and practice with a ‘little and often’ approach, enabling the child to retain what they have learnt and gain confidence. It also develops a good study habit and independent learning rather than becoming dependent upon others teaching them.
How will FCL help with my child’s school work?
By bridging gaps and developing confidence, a child’s attitude can become more positive, whilst at the same time our programmes provide them with the skills sets required to transfer through to their school studies.
How many times a week will my child attend the centre?
Once a week.
If I join, am I tied into FCL for a set amount of time?
No, not at all. FCL is primarily a long-term programme, not a ‘quick fix’. However, there are many reasons why you may need to discontinue, so I ask for just 1 month’s notice.
