FCL have personalised lesson plans for maths and English as per your child's requirements. I see positive improvements in both of my children’s writing skills and maths. I used to worry a lot about their learning but that has been taken away. Please send your children there if you want them to be confident in school and in everyday life.

Maths and English Tuition at Penwortham

Welcome to First Class Learning Penwortham where children learn to succeed. We are delighted to support children in the local community, of all ages and abilities, with both maths and English tuition.

Through our structured programmes, we personalise each child’s learning path, which are targeted to fill any existing gaps in their understanding and promote development of existing knowledge. This helps with their schoolwork, builds confidence, and develops independent learning skills.

Our maths and English programmes are flexible and tailored to learners' individual needs and abilities, so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. Regular testing ensures that the best possible progress is made. The 'little and often' approach, with plenty of repetition and practice, really does make a huge difference.

The Penwortham centre will deliver the programmes with high calibre staff assistants who all have a proven track record.

How we work

Our First Class Learning Centre Manager will call you to discuss how we can help your child with maths and English. They will then assist your child to complete an assessment to determine which path is most suitable for them. Once we have established your child's needs, we will put together a bespoke course of action that will support and encourage your child's learning. If you feel happy with our plan and that we are the best option for you and your child, they will then be able to start attending regular classes at the centre. In these classes they will complete a short piece of work which will be marked, returned, and discussed with the Centre Manager, who will give them a detailed programme of homework to be completed before the next class.

Tuition Services

Maths

The First Class Learning maths programme is designed to equip your child with the fundamental skills required for success in school mathematics. Using a range of resources, it covers all the essential areas of the school curriculum. It builds upon prior learning ensuring concepts are embedded before moving on.

English

Our English programme concentrates on reading, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, creative writing and handwriting; developing the key skills to allow your child to read fluently, spell accurately and write confidently. The initial assessment checks your child's specific needs so that we can provide an individualised programme most appropriate and engaging for them.

FAQ

What type of tuition do you offer?
At our centre, we work with our students on a 1-2-1 basis. We will introduce their work, guide them through examples and ensure your child understands what to do before supporting them to practise with us at the centre. Whilst there will be other children attending the centre at the same time, we do work in small groups and each child works on their own personalised learning programme.
How will FCL help with my child’s school work?
By bridging gaps and developing confidence, a child’s attitude can become more positive, whilst at the same time our programmes provide them with the skills sets required to transfer through to their school studies.
Is there an hourly, weekly or monthly membership fee?
Our students pay a monthly membership fee to visit the centre usually once a week. When your child enrols with us, there is a one-off enrolment fee (per child) at the start of their membership and a set monthly fee. The monthly fee varies according to the number of subjects (maths and/or English) they are studying. We also offer discounts for siblings and number of subjects. Please call or email us to find out more about our fees.
If I join, am I tied into FCL for a set amount of time?
No, not at all. FCL is primarily a long-term programme, not a ‘quick fix’. However, there are many reasons why you may need to discontinue, so we ask for just 1 month’s notice.
