Maths and English Tuition at Edmonton

Welcome to First Class Learning Edmonton, where children learn to succeed. We are delighted to support children in the local community, of all ages and abilities, with both maths and English tuition.

Through our structured programmes, we personalise each child’s learning path, which is targeted to fill any existing gaps in their understanding and promote development of existing knowledge. This helps with their schoolwork, builds confidence, and develops independent learning skills.

Our Maths and English programmes are flexible and tailored to learners' individual needs and abilities, so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. Regular testing ensures that the best possible progress is made. The 'little and often' approach, with plenty of repetition and practice, really does make a huge difference.

How we work

Our Centre Manager (Farhana) will contact you to discuss how we can help your child with maths and English. Farhana will assist your child to complete a free maths and English assessment- feedback on their strengths and areas to improve will be shared and discussed with you. A personalised learning programme will then be created and recommended to meet your child's needs. If you are happy with our plan and feel we are the best option for you and your child, they will then be able to start attending weekly classes at our centre (The Latymer School in Edmonton). In class they will supported in completing a short piece of work, which will be part of their personalised programme. Your child will also receive a programme of daily bite-size homework tasks to further embed and consolidate the learning from the centre.

FAQ

How does FCL differ to 1:1 tutoring?
FCL offers structure and daily practice with a ‘little and often’ approach, enabling the child to retain what they have learnt and gain confidence. It also develops a good study habit and independent learning rather than becoming dependent upon others teaching them.
How will FCL help with my child’s school work?
By bridging gaps and developing confidence, a child’s attitude can become more positive, whilst at the same time our programmes provide them with the skills sets required to transfer through to their school studies.
Can I sit with my child while they do their work at the centre?
If a child is worried about coming along to their first session, we will work with parents to settle them in. However, you will not need to stay for long as once a child has experienced the friendly and welcoming atmosphere, they are happy to stay on their own. We aim to encourage independent and confident students.
If I join, am I tied into FCL for a set amount of time?
No, not at all. FCL is primarily a long-term programme, not a ‘quick fix’. However, there are many reasons why you may need to discontinue, so I ask for just 1 month’s notice.
