I used to worry a lot about their learning but that has been taken away. Please send your children there if you want them to be confident in school and in everyday life.

Maths, English and Science Tuition at Goresbrook

Welcome to the Goresbrook First Class Learning centre. We provide extra support for children in English, Maths and Science as well as 11+ test preparation for Kent, Essex and Redbridge schools.

Our tuition courses have been designed in the UK to align with the national curriculum, to help your child develop the skills and knowledge which can be transferred to their classroom and the assessments they will sit at Primary and Secondary schools.

Unlike many other tuition providers, our resources are designed around your child's individual needs as a result of our unique skills assessments. Children learn best when the resources and teaching is at their level. Therefore, we do not provide for your child generic textbooks and activities but rather a program of learning matched to them.

How we work

Our First Class Learning Centre Manager will call you to discuss how we can help your child with Maths, English and Science. They will then assist your child to complete an assessment to determine which path is most suitable for them. Once we have established your child's needs, we will put together a bespoke course of action that will support and encourage your child's learning. Our sessions are taught in very small groups to maximise tutor:pupil interaction. Pupils complete regular assessments to ensure progress is being made and that they are being appropriately challenged. Feedback is regularly given and the centre manager, Stephen, is happy to discuss your child's progress with you. Our sessions are taught in very small groups to maximise tutor:pupil interaction. FAQ

How does FCL differ to 1:1 tutoring?
FCL offers structure and daily practice, with a ‘little and often’ approach, enabling the child to retain what they have learnt and gain confidence with ease. It also develops good study habits and independent learning so that they don’t become dependent on others teaching them.
How will FCL help with my child’s school work?
By filling in any gaps they may have and developing their confidence we can change their attitude to a positive one and at the same time give them the skill sets needed to carry through to all school work.
Can I sit with my child while they do their work at the centre?
If your child is worried about coming into their first session, parents can come in to begin with but you won’t need to stay for long. Once they see the friendly faces and welcoming atmosphere, they are happy to stay on their own. We like to encourage independent and confident students.
If I join, am I tied into FCL for a set amount of time?
No, not at all. FCL is primarily a long term programme, not a 'quick fix'. However, there are many reasons why you may need to stop, so I just ask for a month's notice.
