My Daughter has grown in confidence since starting maths at first class learning. The repetition enables her to practise concepts until they stick and she is more confident in class as a result.

Maths and English Tuition at Rothley

Welcome to the Rothley First Class Learning Centre.

Our centre supports children and adults in the local community from primary school age upwards, in maths and English tuition which is tailored to their individual needs.

The First Class Learning study programmes are aligned to the National Curriculum and our Centre Manager Debbie, along with her qualified team of tutors, support your child’s learning in maths and English to help build confidence and concentration, whilst developing their independent learning skills.

How we work

The first step would be to contact Debbie to arrange a chat either by phone, whatsapp or email, to discuss how we can help your child with maths, English or both subjects. Following on from this Debbie will sit down with your child and they’ll complete an assessment, giving her the opportunity to identify any learning gaps and the most suitable study plan going forward. Our assessments are free of charge, allowing you the opportunity to decide if this is the right tuition path for your child. We then piece together a tailored plan which supports and encourages your child’s learning. If you’re happy with this outcome, your child can then begin attending our class on a weekly basis. During the session, children complete a short piece of work, usually in the form of worksheets, which are checked and talked through with one of our tutors. Before they leave the class they will be given a set of homework sheets which they complete at home before returning the following week.

Debbie Wolfe-Kinch

Centre Manager

First Class Learning Rothley is run by Debbie Wolfe-Kinch, a mummy, wife and formerly a director of a successful travel business. Debbie is fully trained and qualified to deliver the First Class Learning study programmes and holds an enhanced DBS certificate. Debbie takes great pleasure in watching her students' confidence grow, and seeing them thrive in subjects at school they previously had little confidence in.

Tuition Services

FAQ

How does FCL differ to 1:1 tutoring?
FCL offers structure and daily practice, with a ‘little and often’ approach, enabling the child to retain what they have learnt and gain confidence with ease. It also develops good study habits and independent learning so that they don’t become dependent on others teaching them.
How will FCL help my child’s school work?
By bridging gaps and developing confidence, a child’s attitude can become more positive, whilst at the same time our programmes provide them with the skills sets required to transfer through to their school studies.
Can I sit with my child while they do their work at the centre?
If a child is worried about coming along to their first session, we will work with parents to settle them in. However, you will not need to stay for long as once a child has experienced the friendly and welcoming atmosphere, they are happy to stay on their own. We aim to encourage independent and confident students.
If I join, am I tied into FCL for a set amount of time?
No, not at all. FCL is primarily a long-term programme, not a ‘quick fix’. However, there are many reasons why you may need to discontinue, so I ask for just 1 month’s notice.
