FCL have personalised lesson plans for maths and English as per your child's requirements. I see positive improvements in both of my children’s writing skills and maths. I used to worry a lot about their learning but that has been taken away. Please send your children there if you want them to be confident in school and in everyday life.

Maths and English Tuition at Barlborough

Welcome to First Class Learning Barlborough, where children learn to succeed. We are delighted to support children of all ages and abilities, in the local community, with both Maths and English tuition.

Your child’s journey with us begins with an initial assessment which identifies the starting point appropriate to their learning needs. Through our structured programmes, we personalise their learning path to fill any gaps in their understanding and promote development of existing knowledge. This helps with their schoolwork, builds their confidence and develops their independent learning and study skills.

Our Maths and English programmes are designed so that your child will only move on when they are confident with a topic. Regular assessments ensure that the best possible progress is made. The 'little and often' approach, with plenty of repetition and practice really does make a huge difference, ensuring they catch up and keep up.

How we work

One of our First Class Learning Centre Managers will call you to discuss how we can help your child with Maths and English. They will then assist your child to complete an assessment to determine which path is most suitable for them. Once we have established your child's needs, we will put together a bespoke course of action that will support and encourage your child's learning. If you feel happy with our plan, they will then be able to start attending regular classes at the centre. In these classes, they will complete a short piece of work which will then be marked, returned and discussed with a Centre Manager. Your child will then be given a detailed programme of homework to be completed before the next class.

FAQ

How does FCL differ to 1:1 tutoring?
FCL offers structure and daily practice with a ‘little and often’ approach, enabling the child to retain what they have learnt and gain confidence. It also develops a good study habit and independent learning rather than becoming dependent upon others teaching them.
Is there car parking at the centre?
Free parking is available on the streets surrounding the hall.
Can I sit with my child while they do their work at the centre?
If a child is worried about coming along to their first session, we will work with parents to settle them in. However, you will not need to stay for long as once a child has experienced the friendly and welcoming atmosphere, they are happy to stay on their own. We aim to encourage independent and confident students.
Will you open on any other days?
Please get in touch with the Centre Managers to discuss your requirements.
