Maths and English Tuition at Bexleyheath

We know choosing a tuition provider is a big decision, so our Maths, English and Science tuition programmes answer the needs of both children and parents. Established for over 15 years with around 300 centres across UK, helping thousands of students we give you peace of mind.

Unlike many other after-school tuition options, our courses have been designed by UK teachers based on the National Curriculum. This ensures everything your child learns will directly help them at school, avoiding any confusion with weird maths techniques or irrelevant English tasks.

We aim to create confident, excited learners. Every programme is designed around the students’ needs, which guarantees the work is not too hard or too easy, the best way to build confidence. Our materials are dynamic and interesting, ensuring students stay engaged with learning.

Tuition is not just about solving problems, it is also about helping each student become the best they can be. Our highly tailored approach can overcome challenges for some students, and help others avoid boredom by stretching them. We aim to help them excel and reach their potential.

How we work

The first step is to arrange an assessment at our centre to assess your child’s current level. The Centre Manager, will discuss how she can help your child bridge their gaps and thereafter design a customised program helping them to accelerate their progress and support and encourage your child's learning. If you feel happy with our plan and that we are the best option for you and your child, they will then be able to start attending regular classes at the centre. In these classes they will complete a short piece of work which will be marked, returned and discussed with the tutor, who will give them a detailed programme of homework to be completed before the next class. Our plan will include small bite-size tasks to complete each day through printed worksheets (not more screen time learning). We also supply handbooks as we encourage students to mark their work, both for skills development and so they can spot mistakes immediately. Our programme is a partnership between First Class Learning, your child and you as parents, so communication between all is important.

Centre Manager

Ruchi has 17 years of teaching experience at Primary, Secondary and at University Level and is highly recognised and appreciated by the students. She holds 1st class master’s degree. She has helped many students to bridge their learning gaps and is a specialist in 11+ coaching. She has been able to successfully place many of her students in top Grammar Schools of England. Ruchi as a centre manager is fully trained to deliver the First Class Learning study programmes. She holds an enhanced DBS certificate. She is “Working towards Academic Excellence”.

Maths

The First Class Learning maths programme is designed to equip your child with the fundamental skills required for success in school mathematics. Using a range of resources, it covers all the essential areas of the school curriculum.

English

Our English programme concentrates on reading, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, creative writing and handwriting. The initial diagnostic testing assesses the child's needs so that we can provide an individualised programme.

Science

Our comprehensive science programme will develop your child's knowledge and the skills required as part of their school curriculum. The programme has a proven record for improving results and encourages enjoyment in learning.

FAQ

How does FCL differ to 1:1 tutoring?

FCL offers structure and daily practice, with a ‘little and often’ approach, enabling the child to retain what they have learnt and gain confidence with ease. It also develops good study habits and independent learning so that they don’t become dependent on others teaching them.

How will FCL help with my child’s school work?

By filling in any gaps they may have and developing their confidence we can change their attitude to a positive one and at the same time give them the skill sets needed to carry through to all school work.

Can I sit with my child while they do their work at the centre?

If your child is worried about coming into their first session, parents can come in to begin with but you won’t need to stay for long. Once they see the friendly faces and welcoming atmosphere, they are happy to stay on their own. We like to encourage independent and confident students.

If I join, am I tied into FCL for a set amount of time?

No, not at all. FCL is primarily a long term programme, not a 'quick fix'. However, there are many reasons why you may need to stop, so I just ask for a month's notice.
