Maths and English Tuition at Eastleigh

Welcome to First Class Learning Eastleigh at Top Set Learning, 15 Pirelli Way. We support children in the local community to improve their maths and English through tuition. Our expert Centre Manager supports your child's learning in maths and English, helping to build your child's confidence with their school studies and develop their independent learning skills.

How we work

Our Centre Manager and Qualified Teacher, Allison Banks, will outline how we can help your child with maths and/or English. She will sit down with your child and complete a thorough assessment to determine which path is most suitable. Once she has established your child's needs, she will put together a bespoke course of action that will support and encourage your child's learning and confidence building. If you feel happy with her plan and believe that First Class Learning is the best option for you and your child, you’ll be invited to fill out an online registration form and subsequently a personalised learning programme will be created. Your child will then be invited to start attending weekly (term time) sessions at our centre. During these sessions, your child will have their previous week’s work looked at and any misunderstandings discussed. They will then look through their set worksheets for the upcoming week to ensure they understand the lessons and feel confident to tackle the homework for the week. Each programme involves 5-10 minutes of independent home study per day, and 30 minutes support attending the centre per week per subject.

Allison Banks

Centre Manager

Allison Banks has been teaching children for over 20 years. She has taught in both Asia and England and is a UK Qualified Teacher (PGCE) with a BA in Psychology. Allison is gifted at working with children and has an incredible ability to engage and motivate children to learn in her supportive environment. With high expectations, Allison helps your child to believe in themselves, gain confidence in their abilities and strive for academic success through their own personalised plan. In addition to teaching at and managing First Class Learning Eastleigh, Allison also works at Diverso Accountants, CRY Care & Relief for the Young children's charity, and runs The Treasured Trash Network. She is from Canada originally, and has 3 children of her own of whom she is very proud.

Maths

The First Class Learning maths programme is designed to equip your child with the fundamental skills required for success in school mathematics. Using a range of resources, it covers all the essential areas of the school curriculum. It builds upon prior learning slowly ensuring concepts are embedded before moving on.

English

Our English programme concentrates on reading, phonics, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, comprehension, creative writing and cursive handwriting. The initial assessment checks your child's specific needs so that we can provide an individualised programme most appropriate and engaging for them.
