Maths and English Tuition at Kidderminster

Welcome to the Kidderminster First Class Learning Centre. Andrew and Sara Wisdom, with over 40 years’ combined experience in education, are enthusiastic and caring tutors who love helping children achieve their potential, whatever their ability. We tutor children from Primary through to GCSE and we will help support your child's learning in maths, English or both subjects together.

Our aim is to BUILD CONFIDENCE by helping students experience SUCCESS. Our maths and English tuition programmes are carefully personalised for each individual so they are able to complete tasks in ACHIEVABLE STEPS. They are provided with an individualised daily study plan of around 10-15 minutes per day. One-to-one support is always given to help students succeed. The “little and often” approach, with plenty of repetition and practice, really does make a huge difference.

The tailor made courses are systematic, flexible and relevant, all designed by experts to support children's learning at school. We are confident that tuition provided for each student will help them develop good study and independent learning skills.

The First Class Learning tuition programmes are suitable for ALL ages and abilities.

How we work

The Centre Managers, Andrew and Sara, will call you to discuss how they can help your child with their maths or English. The next step is to arrange a convenient time for your child to complete an initial assessment to determine which path is most suitable for them. This will support and encourage your child's learning, enabling them to gain confidence and fill any gaps in their knowledge. Your child will attend our centre each week, where they will work through their personalised worksheet programme, supported by the Centre Managers. They will be given a structured homework plan to reinforce their learning. We encourage all parents to mark the homework daily, so that corrections can be made as they go through the week and their progress will be seen in the results. (Don’t worry! Comprehensive handbooks with answers are provided.) Our programme is a partnership between First Class Learning, your child and you as parents, so communication between all is important. Andrew Wisdom BA (Hons) PGCE Sara Wisdom The First Class Learning Kidderminster Centre is run by Andrew and Sara Wisdom who have over 40 years’ combined experience in education. Andrew is a teacher. Sara is a Learning Support Assistant who has first-hand experience of helping students develop and improve their numeracy and literacy skills. They have been running tuition centres for over 10 years. They are fully trained and qualified to deliver the First Class Learning programme. They both hold enhanced DBS certificates.

Maths

Our maths programme is designed to equip your child with the fundamental skills required for success in mathematics. It covers all the essential areas of the National Curriculum and focuses on building confidence and mastery of key topics. The work is tailored to each individual child's needs.

English

Our English programme concentrates on reading, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, creative writing and handwriting. The initial diagnostic testing assesses the child's needs so that we can provide an individualised programme.

Science

Our comprehensive science programme will develop your child's knowledge and the skills required as part of their school curriculum. The programme has a proven record for improving results and encourages enjoyment in learning.

FAQ

Will my child be given one-to-one support?

Yes. During the class each child will spend some time with Andrew or Sara. There is no group teaching as each child is following their own individualised programme. When we are sure they understand the task, they are encouraged to work independently.

Are you open during the school holidays?

Yes. We will provide work for 52 weeks of the year, if you wish.

Is there car parking at the centre?

Yes, there is plenty of car parking space.
