Maths and English Tuition at New Malden

Welcome to the New Malden First Class Learning Centre! Students of all ages attend our dedicated tuition centre in the heart of New Malden. Our powerful learning programmes are designed to meet the objectives of the National Curriculum and we cater for learners aged 4 to 16 years old.

Every child who wants to join us completes a free maths and English assessment with the Centre Manager – who is a qualified and experienced teaching professional. We provide detailed feedback and create personalised maths and English learning programmes that target your child's individual learning needs.

Through our structured programmes, we personalise each child’s learning path, which is targeted to fill any existing gaps in their understanding and promote development of existing knowledge. This helps with their school work, builds confidence, and develops independent learning skills.

Our maths and English programmes are flexible and tailored to learners' individual needs and abilities, so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. Regular testing ensures that the best possible progress is made. The 'little and often' approach, with plenty of repetition and practice, really does make a huge difference.

How we work

The Centre Manager – Mrs. Dolly Singh - complete a free maths and English assessment with your child and provide informative feedback on their strengths and areas to improve. She will also recommend a personalised learning programme to meet your child's needs. If you enrol, your child will attend the New Malden tuition centre once a week. At the centre, your child will be supported as they work through their personalised learning programme. If you feel happy with our plan and that we are the best option for you and your child, they will then be able to start attending regular classes at the centre. In these classes they will complete a short piece of work which will be marked, returned, and discussed with the Centre Manager, who will give them a detailed programme of homework to be completed before the next class.

The New Malden First Class Learning Tuition Centre is run by Mrs. Dolly Singh. She is a qualified, experienced and highly successful teaching professional, who is fully trained to deliver the First Class Learning study programmes. She holds an Enhanced DBS certificate and is trained in child safeguarding and first aid. She has been in the teaching profession for many years, including as a private tutor, and works on getting the basics right to build a strong foundation for her students. Ample practice and homework ensure that concepts become clear, so children achieve their full potential. She strongly believes in understanding her students and plans work to suit their capabilities so that she can help them learn and grow effectively.

Maths

The First Class Learning Maths programme is designed to equip your child with the fundamental skills required for success in school mathematics. Using a range of resources, it covers all the essential areas of the school curriculum. It builds upon prior learning ensuring concepts are embedded before moving on.

English

Our English programme concentrates on reading, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, creative writing and handwriting. The initial assessment checks your child's specific needs so that we can provide an individualised programme most appropriate and engaging for them.

Science

Our comprehensive science programme will develop your child's knowledge and the skills required as part of their school curriculum. The programme has a proven record for improving results and encourages enjoyment in learning.

FAQ

What type of tuition do you offer?

At our centre, we work with our students on a 1-2-1 basis. We will introduce their work, guide them through examples and ensure your child understands what to do before supporting them to practise with us at the centre. Whilst there will be other children attending the centre at the same time, we do work in small groups and each child works on their own personalised learning programme.

Is there an hourly, weekly or monthly membership fee?

Our students pay a monthly membership fee to visit the centre once a week. When your child enrols with us, there is a one-off enrolment fee (per child) at the start of their membership and a set monthly fee. The monthly fee varies according to the amount of time your child spends at the centre and number of subjects (maths and/or English) they are studying.
