Maths and English Tuition at Nottingham Beeston

Welcome to the Beeston First Class Learning centre. We support children from a range of abilities and age groups in developing key skills in Maths and English. We offer quality teaching and support as each child undertakes their learning journey which is progressive and aligned to the National Curriculum. We believe every child can achieve success!

Through our structured programmes, we personalise each child’s learning path, which is targeted to fill any existing gaps in their understanding and promote development of existing knowledge. This helps with their schoolwork, builds confidence and develops independent learning skills.

Our Maths and English programmes are flexible and tailored to learners' individual needs and abilities, so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. Regular testing ensures that the best possible progress is made. The 'little and often' approach, with plenty of repetition and practice, really does make a huge difference.

How we work

The first step is to arrange a convenient time for your child to complete some initial assessments. These can be done via a video call or in person. The Centre Manager, Harpreet, will discuss how she can help your child with their Maths or English. Once Harpreet has established your child's needs, she will put together an individualised programme that will support and encourage your child's learning, enabling them to gain confidence and fill in gaps that they may have. They will then be able to start attending the weekly sessions at the centre. We encourage all parents to mark the homework daily so that corrections can be made as they go through the week and their progress will be seen in the results. Harpreet is able to provide ongoing support throughout the week whenever it is needed so if they have any problems with the work, you can call her at any time between 9:00 and 18:00, Monday to Friday, or send an email to beeston@firstclasslearning.co.uk.

FAQ

How does FCL differ to 1:1 tutoring?
FCL offers structure and daily practice with a ‘little and often’ approach, enabling the child to retain what they have learnt and gain confidence. It also develops a good study habit and independent learning rather than becoming dependent upon others teaching them.
How will FCL help with my child’s school work?
By bridging gaps and developing confidence, a child’s attitude can become more positive, whilst at the same time our programmes provide them with the skills sets required to transfer through to their school studies.
Can I sit with my child while they do their work at the centre?
If a child is worried about coming along to their first session, we will work with parents to settle them in. However, you will not need to stay for long as once a child has experienced the friendly and welcoming atmosphere, they are happy to stay on their own. We aim to encourage independent and confident students.
If I join, am I tied into FCL for a set amount of time?
No, not at all. FCL is primarily a long-term programme, not a ‘quick fix’. However, there are many reasons why you may need to discontinue, so I ask for just 1 month’s notice.
