Welcome to the Sedgley First Class Learning Centre. Graeme Lloyd, Centre Manager, has been running highly successful after-school maths and English classes for over 4 years (3 years Kumon).
COVID-19 UPDATE:- We continue to offer 1:1 support remotely with video or phone calls and the daily worksheets are posted to you. Due to the Coronavirus, the centre sessions are temporarily closed. However, all students can still make the same progress as if they were coming to the class.
Students of all ages are provided with a structured and individualised daily plan of study of around 15-20 minutes per day. 1:1 support can be given by a video call or phone call and weekly results are collected to ensure mastery and fluency.
Through our structured programmes, Graeme individualises each child’s learning path, which is targeted to fill any existing gaps in their understanding. This therefore helps with their school work, builds confidence and develops independent learning skills, something that is extremely important in today's busy classrooms in schools.
Our maths and English programmes are flexible and tailored to learners' individual needs and abilities so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. Regular testing ensures that the best possible progress is made. The 'little and often' approach, with specific repetition and practise, really does make a huge difference.
The first step is to arrange a convenient time for your child to complete some initial assessments. These are done via a video call. The Centre Manager, Graeme, will discuss how he can help your child with their maths or English. An individualised programme is put together that will support and encourage your child's learning enabling them to gain confidence and fill in gaps that they may have. Your child can then start completing the daily worksheets with ongoing support from the Centre Manager whenever it is needed. Our programme is a partnership between First Class Learning, your child and you as parents so communication between all is important. We encourage all parents to mark the homework daily so that corrections can be made as they go through the week and their progress will be seen in the results. If they have any problems with the work, you can call your Graeme at any time between 09:00 and 18:00, Monday to Friday.
