Welcome to the South Shields First Class Learning Centres. Emma Orton, Centre Manager, has been running highly successful after-school maths, English and science tuition centres for over 10 years.
COVID-19 UPDATE: Due to the Coronavirus, the learning centres are temporarily closed. However, we continue to offer 1:1 support remotely via video or phone calls and the worksheet programmes are posted. Students can still make the same progress as they would if attending class.
Students of all ages are supported with maths, English and science tuition. Emma individualises each student’s learning programme to target any gaps in understanding and to further develop knowledge and skills. The bespoke programmes help with school work and exam preparation as well as build confidence and independence. A varied approach is offered which includes 1:1 support and independent learning provision.
Our maths, English and science programmes are flexible and tailored to learners’ individual needs and abilities so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. Ongoing assessments are carried out to measure progress and enable Emma to adapt learning programmes accordingly. The ‘little and often’ approach is recommended and 10-15 minutes per day homework is provided to encourage repetition and practise.
Our First Class Learning Centre Manager will call you to discuss how we can help your child with maths, English or science. They will then assist your child to complete an assessment to determine which path is most suitable for them. Once we have established your child's needs, we will put together a bespoke course of action that will support and encourage your child's learning. If you feel happy with our plan and that we are the best option for you and your child, they will then be able to start attending regular classes at the centre or online. In these classes they will complete a short piece of work which will be marked, returned and discussed with the Centre Manager, who will give them a detailed programme of homework to be completed before the next class.
