Maths and English Tuition at Watford Beechen Grove

Welcome to the Watford Beechen Grove First Class Learning Centre. We support children and adults in the local community with maths, English, science and 11 plus tuition.

Students of all ages are supported with maths, English, science and 11 plus tuition (for South West Herts Consortium). Preeti individualises each student’s learning programme to target any gaps in understanding and to further develop knowledge and skills. The bespoke programmes help with school work and exam preparation as well as build confidence and independence. A varied approach is offered which includes 1:1 support and independent learning provision.

Our maths, English and science and programmes are flexible and tailored to learners’ individual needs and abilities so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. The 11 plus programme focusses on maths, English and verbal reasoning in preparation for the South West Herts. Consortium exams. Ongoing assessments are carried out to measure progress and adapt the learning programmes accordingly. The ‘little and often’ approach is recommended and 10-15 minutes per day homework is provided with plenty of repetition and practice that really does make a huge difference.

The Centre Manager at First Class Learning Watford individualises each child’s learning journey with a unique structured programme that enables them to advance at a pace that is both comfortable and stretching. The structured programmes are targeted to fill any existing gaps in your child’s understanding. This therefore helps with their school work, builds confidence and develops independent learning skills, something that is extremely important in today's busy classrooms in schools.

How we work

Our First Class Learning Centre Manager will discuss how we can help your child with maths or English and how our programme works. If you are happy with this, your child will then be booked for an assessment to be carried out at the centre to determine any gaps in knowledge which path is most suitable for them. Once we have established your child's needs, we will put together a bespoke programme that will support and encourage your child's learning. Your child can then attend regular classes at the centre where they will be given classwork which will be marked and corrections are done in class. Homework will also be given to be completed before the next class.

The Watford Beechen Grove First Class Learning Centre is run by Preeti Shah FCCA. Preeti is an experienced tutor, having over 15 years of experience tutoring children. Preeti Shah is a qualified accountant, fully trained and qualified to deliver the First Class Learning study programmes. Every First Class Learning tutor holds an enhanced DBS certificate. Preeti is passionate about supporting children with their education and bringing out the best in every student. Progress is made in small achievable steps so that students constantly experience success in the form of increased speed, accuracy, concentration and confidence.

Maths

Our Maths programme is designed to equip your child with the fundamental skills required for success in school mathematics. Using a range of resources, it focuses on building confidence and mastery of key topics for the essential areas of the school curriculum. It’s flexibility enables work to be tailored to each child’s needs to bridge gaps and to work beyond their school level if appropriate.

English

Our English programme concentrates on all aspects of the curriculum: reading, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, creative writing and handwriting. The initial diagnostic testing assesses the child's needs so that we can provide an individualised programme.

Science

Our comprehensive science programme will develop your child's knowledge and the skills required as part of their school curriculum for KS2, KS3 and GCSE. The programme has a proven record for improving results and encourages enjoyment in learning.
