Maths and English Tuition at West Hampstead

Welcome to First Class Learning West Hampstead, where children learn to succeed. We are delighted to support children in the local community, of all ages and abilities, with both Maths and English tuition.

Through our structured face to face and online programmes, we personalise each child’s learning path, which is targeted to fill any existing gaps in their understanding and promote development of existing knowledge. This helps with their schoolwork, builds confidence, and develops independent learning skills.

Our Maths and English programmes are flexible and tailored to learners' individual needs and abilities, so students move on only when they are confident with a topic. Regular testing ensures that the best possible progress is made. The 'little and often' approach, with plenty of repetition and practice, really does make a huge difference.

How we work

Our First Class Learning Centre Manager will call you to discuss how we can help your child with Maths and English. They will then assist your child to complete an assessment to determine which path is most suitable for them. Once we have established your child's needs, we will put together a bespoke course of action that will support and encourage your child's learning. If you feel happy with our plan and that we are the best option for you and your child, they will then be able to start attending regular classes at the centre. In these classes they will complete a short piece of work which will be marked, returned, and discussed with the Centre Manager, who will give them a detailed programme of homework to be completed before the next class.

Maths

The First Class Learning Maths programme is designed to equip your child with the fundamental skills required for success in school mathematics. Using a range of resources, it covers all the essential areas of the school curriculum. It builds upon prior learning ensuring concepts are embedded before moving on.

English

Our English programme concentrates on reading, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, creative writing and handwriting. The initial assessment checks your child's specific needs so that we can provide an individualised programme most appropriate and engaging for them.

FAQ

How does FCL differ to 1:1 tutoring?

FCL offers structure and daily practice with a ‘little and often’ approach, enabling the child to retain what they have learnt and gain confidence. It also develops a good study habit and independent learning rather than becoming dependent upon others teaching them.

How will FCL help with my child’s school work?

By bridging gaps and developing confidence, a child’s attitude can become more positive, whilst at the same time our programmes provide them with the skills sets required to transfer through to their school studies.

How much do you charge for your services?

Students pay a one-off enrolment fee plus a set monthly membership fee for each subject they receive tuition in (e.g. Maths and/or English). Please contact us to find out more about our fees.
